Senior Accounting Manager

Full Job Description

As a Senior Accounting Manager at JELCO, you will play a vital role in overseeing, developing, and implementing accounting processes and controls, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for the entire company. 

Job Responsibilities

• Work with a team of accountants and senior accountants, providing guidance and support for their professional development. 
• Lead the monthly close process for assigned areas of the balance sheet and P&L, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis. 
• Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate supporting documentation. 
• Review financial statements prepared by others for accuracy and completeness before inclusion in the monthly package. 
• Oversee all aspects of accounting and reporting for four service locations. 
• Analyze existing accounting processes and procedures, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. 
• Manage accounting data and actively contribute to the budgeting process. 
• Develop in-depth knowledge of financial reporting for assigned accounting areas and their interaction with the general ledger. 
• Perform additional tasks as assigned. 

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field (e.g., Finance) is required. MBA or CPA certification is a strong plus. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance, with a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing practices. 
• Public accounting experience is highly preferred. 
• Experience in commercial real estate accounting and construction accounting is preferred. 
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
