Full Job Description

The Appeals Specialist is responsible for handling denied or underpaid insurance claims by appealing and seeking reprocessing. Communicate reasons for appeals based on insurance rules, maintain detailed records, collaborate with the billing department for documentation, stay informed on policy updates, and develop strategies to resolve claims effectively.


Job Responsibilities

  • Contact insurance companies to discuss and appeal denied or underpaid claims.
  • Clearly articulate the reasons for claim reprocessing and payment based on insurance rules and regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of all communications and follow up actions with insurance companies.
  • Collaborate with the billing department to gather necessary documentation for appeals.
  • Stay updated on insurance policies, procedures, and regulatory changes.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to successfully appeal and resolve claims.


Job Requirements

  • At least 6 months of experience in medical billing is preferred but not required
  • Ability to build rapport, actively listen, and communicate clearly with diverse audiences
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills to resolve concerns effectively
  • Capability to understand and explain insurance policies, procedures, and guidelines in simple, clear terms.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in follow-ups and documentation
  • Must have a neutral English accent
