Join the top-rated moving company in the Puget Sound area as Assistant Controller, supporting financial operations for our fast-growing, multi-branch moving and storage business. We are seeking a QuickBooks-savvy accountant who can hit the ground running, adapt quickly, and immediately contribute to our fast-paced environment.

You will help manage the financial health of the company, oversee core accounting functions, drive month-end close, and help supervise a remote finance team. This role is ideal for a senior accounting professional experienced in multi-location, asset-intensive, or service-based businesses (moving, logistics, or home services preferred).

Job Responsibilities

Financial Management & Strategy

Financial Packages: Prepare comprehensive monthly financial packages.

Branch Performance: Develop and maintain detailed Departmental P&Ls, dashboards, and KPI reporting.

Projections & Planning: Assist with cash flow forecasting, budgeting vs. actual analysis, and annual reforecasts.

External Reporting: Assist with lender reporting and support the external CPA firm with tax preparation.

Core Operations & Reconciliations

Month-End Close: Handle strict month-end close procedures, journal entries, balance sheet reviews, and overall reconciliations.

Intercompany Transactions: Manage intercompany reconciliations, shared labor allocations, and intercompany loans.

Team Supervision: Support and oversee remote AP/AR team processes, ensuring clear expectations and accountability.

Tax Compliance: Assist with ensuring compliance with GAAP, federal, and Washington State tax requirements (including B&O tax).

Job Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Accounting (progressive finance experience with prior corporate accounting responsibility preferred).
• Software: Strong proficiency and hands-on experience with QuickBooks is strictly required.
• Speed: Ability to adapt quickly and immediately add value during our busy season.
• Leadership: Experience supporting or supervising remote AP/AR or finance teams.
• Skills: High-level google sheets skills and solid GAAP knowledge.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with intercompany loans or shared labor allocations.
• Background in moving, logistics, transportation, construction, or field-service operations.
• Familiarity with Washington State business regulations and taxes.
