About Overhill:
An indie studio founded by Brian Magazu in April 2025 building our first three PC games in Unity and RPG Maker MZ– The Traveling Witch in Animal Town, Singularity RPG, and The Doors to Netherwhere. We communicate on Discord, one server per game project. Learn more at Overhill.games or on Instagram. We’re committed to using only human-made art, music, and writing in our games; but are not otherwise anti-AI.
Brief:
Make amazing content for an indie computer game studio. Your ultimate measurable is Steam wishlists, at least until we have games for sale. Host a weekly meeting to share progress. Grow audiences and awareness. Be proactive, reliable, and think outside the box.
The Ideal Community Manager for Overhill is…
An exceptional communicator. It’s important you can read, write, and speak with a high degree of competency in English without the aid of AI translation. Bonus if you know other languages like Spanish, Portuguese, or Mandarin, as we’ve focused some of our content on those audiences.
Skilled at making content. You’ll need to compile art, music, sound, and storytelling made for game systems into compelling images and videos formatted for a variety of platform requirements. Graphic design and video compositing / editing are key. Bonus if you’re open to being IN the content.
Organized and prioritized. You’ll need to stay ahead of content production schedules by 2+ weeks, ensuring our social channels, Steam pages, website, and Discord are kept up to date with our latest and greatest. Steam wishlists matter most, followed by great organic content, then paid ads and festival participation.
Consistent and reliable. Both with wonderful content and with team communication.
Proactive. Your ideas matter; even the ones we don’t end up using. There are tens of thousands of game developers. Overhill will only shine through if our Community Manager seeks out ways to cut through the noise to capture the attention of gamers. Marketing direction is established together with the studio owner; but you're responsible for execution.
Fun and creative! This isn’t an accounting firm or a landscaping company. Our work should help accountants and landscapers escape from their work :)
Enthusiastic about video games.
What to Expect:
20+ hours of consistent weekly activity.
Asynchronous (on your own time) work except a weekly meeting + occasional live syncs.
A culture that seeks “abundant clarity + compassionate accountability.” We each aim to make sure everyone knows what to expect and when, and to hold one another accountable with consistency and kindness.
Your first interview will be written. Second will be via Google Meet.
Accountabilities:
Design and schedule remarkable content. Expect to curate 4 - 5 posts / stories per week, 1 - 2 of which to be a paid ad. We have Instagram, Facebook, X, Bsky, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
Be social. Engage with each account daily, responding to and liking comments, tagging team members and game dev colleagues. Use Discord to drum up ideas and participation from often reclusive team members.
Lead a weekly Google Meet with Overhill’s producer to share upcoming content, recent ad and engagement data, and progress on active projects.
Projects. Set up an ad account on [insert platform], or update [insert Overhill game]’s Steam page, or design a campaign for [insert crowdfunding site], or submit our game to [insert festival, event, award], or make a new trailer for [insert game] using a new set of trailer beats, etc. Some will be given to you by the producer; others will be proposed by you to the producer.
Get wishlists. Until we have games to sell, wishlists on Steam are our measurable goal.
PR outreach. Publications will only talk about us if they know what we’re doing. Make that easy for them with a monthly press release doubling as a newsletter. Include content they can effortlessly re-use.
Adhere to the brand voice, and/or suggest updates to it over time. It’s your living document once you have the job!
Occasional light admin work, such as HELP BRIAN FIND A NEW PIXEL ARTIST!
Software We Use a Lot:
Google Drive for Desktop
Discord
Metricool (for scheduling social posts)
Google Meet
RPG Maker MZ / Unity
Clockify (to share how time is spent)
