Compensation:

• Base compensation starting at $3,000 per month DOE
• Potential for performance-based bonuses

About the Role

As Controller, you will own the financial health of the company and lead a fully remote accounting/finance team. You’ll oversee all core accounting functions, manage month-end close and reporting, support budgeting and forecasting, and partner closely—remotely—with our locally based operators and General Managers in the Puget Sound area to drive profitability and cash flow.

This role is ideal for a Controller or senior accounting/finance professional experienced in remote-team leadership and multi-location, asset-intensive, or service-based businesses (moving, logistics, transportation, construction, or home services preferred).

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop a fully remote accounting/finance team, setting clear expectations and accountability

Own the full accounting function: GL, AP, AR, payroll review, fixed assets, and revenue recognition

Lead the month-end and year-end close process: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements

Develop and maintain branch-level P&Ls, dashboards, and KPI reports

• Partner closely (via video/phone) with local General Managers and operations leaders in the Puget Sound area to understand performance, control costs, and improve margins
• Lead budgeting and forecasting, including annual budgets, reforecasts, and cash flow projections
• Monitor and manage working capital: receivables, payables, and cash management
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and Washington State tax requirements, and industry regulations
• Strengthen controls and processes around purchasing, expense management, inventory, and fleet-related costs
• Oversee relationships with external CPA firm, banks, and key vendors
• Support system implementations and process improvements (accounting software, integrations, automation)

Job Requirements

Qualifications

5–7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 2–3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role (or equivalent responsibility)

• Experience managing or leading remote accounting/finance teams
• Background in moving, logistics, transportation, construction, or similar multi-truck / field-service operations strongly preferred
• Solid GAAP knowledge and experience owning month-end close and financial statement preparation
• Demonstrated success supporting operations leaders with clear, actionable financial insights
• Strong Excel and accounting system skills; experience with mid-market ERPs or industry-specific systems is a plus
• Proven experience implementing or improving financial processes, controls, and KPIs
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on, high-volume environment
• Familiarity with Washington State (including B&O tax, payroll, and other state-specific considerations) is a plus
