About LoanBud
LoanBud is a rapidly expanding fintech focused on supporting small businesses through innovative financing solutions. Our mission is to empower small-business owners and entrepreneurs by providing streamlined access to capital through SBA and other small-business loans. We foster a culture of growth, teamwork, and dedication to the entrepreneurial spirit.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Credit Analyst to evaluate small business borrowers for SBA and conventional credit programs. You will spread and analyze financials, assess cash flow and debt service coverage, determine eligibility, recommend structures, and prepare lender-ready credit packages. This remote role requires reliable availability during U.S. Eastern business hours (M–F, 9–6 ET) and proactive collaboration with Sales, Operations, and our lender partners.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Spreading
• Spread and analyze financial statements and tax returns (3 years historical + YTD).
• Build global cash-flow analyses; calculate DSCR and leverage; assess working-capital needs.
• Normalize/adjust EBITDA; evaluate add-backs and owner compensation.
Underwriting & Structuring
• Evaluate SBA eligibility and program fit (7(a), 504, small-balance).
• Recommend structures (terms, collateral, guarantors) aligned to risk profile.
• Draft clear credit write-ups with rationale, risks/mitigants, and conditions.
Credit Packages & Lender Coordination
• Prepare lender-ready files: narrative, spreads, projections, use of funds, sources & uses, and conditions.
• Coordinate with lenders on follow-ups, additional info, and approval conditions.
• Track pipeline status; maintain clean documentation and audit trails.
Borrower Follow-Up (Phone/SMS/Email)
• Proactively contact clients via phone, SMS, and email to request missing documents and clarifications.
• Explain requirements in plain language; provide checklists and deadlines; escalate unresolved items.
• Log all outreach and document receipts in CRM and shared folders.
Documentation & Compliance
• Manage doc intake (bank statements, tax returns, PFS, debt schedules, AR/AP agings).
• Verify completeness and consistency; flag discrepancies or potential fraud signals.
• Support InfoSec and confidentiality standards for borrower data.
Testing & Process Improvement
• Contribute to playbooks, templates, and SOPs to improve underwriting speed and accuracy.
• Suggest automations (e.g., intake forms, checklist workflows, AI summaries) to streamline analysis.
Who We’re Looking For
This role requires more than technical underwriting ability—it requires strong judgment, ownership, and communication. The ideal candidate:
Detail-Oriented to an Extreme
• You naturally catch inconsistencies others miss (e.g., mismatched revenue between tax returns and P&L).
• You are precise in your analysis and documentation.
• You take pride in clean, accurate work with zero loose ends.
Strong Analytical Thinker
• You don’t just calculate DSCR—you understand what is driving it.
• You ask the right questions when something doesn’t make sense.
• You can quickly assess risk and identify key strengths and weaknesses in a deal.
Ownership & Accountability
• You take full responsibility for moving deals forward—not just completing tasks.
• You proactively follow up with borrowers, lenders, and internal teams.
• You don’t wait for direction—you identify what’s needed next and act.
Clear & Confident Communicator
• You can explain financial concepts to non-financial borrowers in simple terms.
• Your emails are structured, concise, and professional.
• You are comfortable following up with clients via phone, SMS, and email.
Highly Organized & Process-Driven
• You can manage multiple deals simultaneously without things falling through the cracks.
• You maintain clear notes, statuses, and next steps at all times.
• You thrive in structured workflows but can adapt when needed.
Comfortable in a Fast-Paced Environment
• You can handle multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
• You stay composed under pressure and maintain accuracy.
• You are responsive and reliable during working hours.
Customer & Service Mindset
• You understand that speed and clarity directly impact the borrower experience.
• You approach every interaction with professionalism and helpfulness.
• You represent LoanBud well in every external communication.
Process Improvement Mentality
• You look for ways to improve efficiency in underwriting and documentation.
• You are open to using automation and AI tools to streamline workflows.
• You contribute ideas to make the system better over time.
Requirements
• 5+ years in small-business credit, M&A, commercial underwriting, or related finance roles (SBA experience preferred).
• Strong financial statement and tax return analysis; confident building projections and DSCR models.
• Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivots); comfort with PDFs and data extraction tools.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain finance concepts to non-experts.
• Organized, deadline-reliable, and meticulous with documentation.
• Reliable home office setup and availability during 9–6 ET.
Nice to Have
• Familiarity with SBA SOP and lender credit policies.
• Experience with CRM/workflow tools (HubSpot, Airtable/Asana) and secure file systems (Drive/Sharefile).
• Exposure to OCR/AI tools for document parsing; experience with QuickBooks reports.
Location
Remote. Required hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
