The mission of the Financial Operations & Accounting Lead is to establish and maintain a stable, accurate, and scalable financial foundation for Tingen Law. This role owns day-to-day bookkeeping, trust accounting (IOLTA), financial systems, and reporting, while building the infrastructure and visibility needed to support growth and leadership decision-making.
Outcomes Required for Success
● Collections and subscription billing are fully operational and consistently maintained at ~100% accuracy, with clear ownership and oversight of collections staff.
● Client billing issues are resolved promptly and professionally by this role, minimizing interruptions to attorneys and legal staff and preserving client trust.
● All bookkeeping is completed daily, with clean reconciliations and no material errors. Financial data is reliable enough to support real-time decision-making on a daily basis.
● The IOLTA account is maintained in full legal and ethical compliance, balances monthly, and withstands internal compliance reviews without issue.
● Use of Odoo Accounting is fully understood, and our configuration is maintained to support firm operations, including dashboards and reports that replicate and improve upon existing financial reporting tools.
● Leadership has clear visibility into payroll, expenses, cash flow, and margins. A working budget exists and is actively used to support sustainable growth.
● This role functions as a trusted member of the leadership team, proactively communicating financial insights, risks, and opportunities.
● Over time, this role works alongside a Fractional CFO to develop higher-level financial planning and strategic skills ,expanding impact as the firm grows.
Competencies
A good candidate has worked inside an accounting system beyond basic data entry, contributing to system setup, workflow improvements, and financial reporting. They can clearly communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders, operate independently in a remote environment with consistent reliability, and coordinate with or oversee others to ensure work is completed. They are technically adept, organized, and comfortable learning new tools and processes while maintaining accountability for results.
Compensation
This is a full-time remote role with compensation starting at $2,000 USD per month, based on experience and demonstrated capability. Compensation is expected to grow over time as outcomes are achieved, scope increases, and the role develops toward greater financial leadership responsibility.
