About

Full Job Description

The mission of the HR & Recruitment Lead is to own HR at Tingen Law — including recruitment, onboarding, training, monthly check-ins, engagement, and retention — so the firm can hire faster, retain its star players, and build the structure needed to scale toward its $10M vision.

This role joins the leadership team. It moves HR from informal and reactive to structured and consistent: a real recruiting pipeline, written Alliance plans for every staff member, a defined pay and progression scale, and monthly contact with every team member. The person in this seat carries the firm's direction out to the whole staff while remaining someone people trust enough to be honest with.

Job Responsibilities

Outcomes Required for Success

  1. Retention reaches and holds at 90%, with flight risks identified early and addressed rather than discovered at resignation.
  2. Every staff member has a written Alliance plan on file, actively used and revisited rather than signed once and filed.
  3. A structure for staff progress and pay scale is created and actively managed, so advancement is defined and consistent and compensation expectations stay within budget — no surprise pay conversations.
  4. Hiring speed for paralegals and similar roles is consistently under one month, from opening the role to an accepted offer.
  5. Candidate flow is increased across multiple hiring platforms, so open roles begin with a real pool of qualified candidates rather than a search from scratch.
  6. Internal branding, team activities, and alumni relations are actively managed, so the firm is a place people are proud to work and former staff stay a warm network.
  7. Every non-leadership team staff member is met with at least once per month using the People Analyzer and at least once every six months of alliance conversations, coaching staff on the Traction traits, with notes and trends tracked in Odoo.
  8. The WHO interview process is executed on every hire — scorecards written before sourcing begins, structured interviews conducted, and decisions made against defined outcomes rather than gut feel.

Job Requirements

Competencies

The ideal candidate has prior HR or recruiting experience and has owned hiring end to end — sourcing, interviewing, and closing candidates, not just scheduling. This is a hands-on role without direct reports, so they must be willing to do the work themselves. They are emotionally grounded and steady under pressure, able to hold difficult conversations without absorbing or amplifying the emotion, and able to represent the firm's direction to the team while staying someone staff genuinely trust. They are organized enough to build structure where none exists, comfortable tracking people metrics in Odoo, and reliable working independently in a remote environment. Experience with Traction/EOS, the People Analyzer, or the WHO hiring method is a strong plus; willingness to learn ours is required.

Compensation

This is a full-time remote role on the leadership team, with compensation starting at $1,500 USD per month based on experience. Compensation is expected to grow as retention, hiring speed, and structural outcomes are achieved and the scope of the role expands.
