Full Job Description

The Marketing & Sales Assistant plays a vital role in growing The Writing Barn’s visibility, engagement, and lead pipeline through strategic social media execution and digital marketing systems support.

This role is social media–forward, with the majority of time dedicated to content creation, video editing, audience engagement, and organic growth across platforms. In addition, this position supports email marketing implementation, CRM management, and lead tracking systems that drive enrollment and community expansion.

Working closely with the Marketing Manager, this role ensures that marketing strategy is executed with precision, creativity, and strong technical fluency. The ideal candidate is digitally savvy, highly organized, analytics-minded, and excited to contribute to meaningful work in the writing and publishing space.

Primary focus areas

  • Social media content creation and audience growth (majority of time allocation)
  • Digital marketing implementation (email, funnels, automations)
  • Lead tracking, generation, and nurturing systems
  • Performance tracking and analytics reporting


Job Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Growth 

  • Create and design graphics, carousels, and short-form video content
  • Edit and repurpose video content for Instagram and other platforms
  • Manage and schedule content calendars
  • Write captions aligned with The Writing Barn brand voice
  • Actively engage with followers, comments, and DMs
  • Identify growth opportunities, trends, and potential collaborations
  • Monitor performance metrics (reach, saves, shares, engagement rate, follower growth)
  • Provide weekly performance insights and optimization recommendations
  • Support live events and promotional pushes on social platforms

This role should meaningfully contribute to audience growth and engagement across platforms.

Email Marketing Implementation & CRM Management

  • Format and schedule emails in Kit (ConvertKit) or ActiveCampaign
  • Build automations, tagging logic, and segmentation flows
  • Test and QA email sequences and funnels
  • Monitor email performance metrics (open rates, CTR, conversions)
  • Support promotional campaigns and nurture sequences
  • Maintain list hygiene and tagging accuracy

Lead Generation & Sales Support

  • Track lead flow from awareness → engagement → conversion
  • Maintain CRM data accuracy
  • Support backend setup for conversion events
  • Monitor registrations, applications, and follow-up needs
  • Identify friction points and recommend improvements

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track KPIs across social, email, and lead generation systems
  • Maintain organized reporting dashboards
  • Provide weekly summaries with clear insights and next steps
  • Flag performance trends and optimization opportunities

  • Care deeply about supporting writers and mission-driven education.

Technical Skills Required

  • Strong Instagram growth and content strategy knowledge
  • Proficiency in Canva (advanced preferred)
  • Comfortable editing short-form video
  • Experience with Kit (ConvertKit) or ActiveCampaign
  • Familiarity with CRM tagging systems and automation flows
  • Ability to troubleshoot integrations
  • Experience with scheduling platforms
  • Data-literate and comfortable pulling analytics
