Full Job Description

You will be the content creator and digital marketer for a small, indie video game company. You'll report to the Producer. The company currently has 3 game projects from which you can get content material and ideas. We have ~10 teammates, and we work asynchronously (except the occasional weekly meetup) across many time zones. Thus, you will not be measured by hours. Instead, you'll be measured by the quality and timeliness of your deliverables, and their effects on our desire to grow and engage with our audience. Most of our team communication happens in our Discord servers, which are segmented by game project. You will create and edit content, engage with the community of creators and fans on socials, propose and manage small promotional campaigns on socials, do some light design work. Your primary goal is to grow the positive awareness of the studio and its games, representing it with creative professionalism and fun.


Job Responsibilities

You'll be responsible for:

  1. Creating attractive, compelling content to schedule via Metricool (or similar) for daily posts to our social accounts (X, IG, Bsky, TikTok, YouTube). Content is typically scheduled 2 weeks in advance, and many art / music / video assets can be found in our teams' Discord channels and Google Drive.
  2. A short, weekly Google Meets meeting to report on channel growth, engagement rates; and to propose strategy adjustments for the coming weeks.
  3. Engaging with the indie game, art, writer, and musician community via socials. A portion of weekly content can include sharing cool posts from the community.
  4. Light PR work: proposing and preparing outreach to streamers, publishers, podcasters etc. to inform them of our milestones or to arrange conversations with our producers.
  5. Light graphic design and video creation/editing work: creating clips, collages, carousels, and sometimes specific formats / sizes of marketing images for use on Steam, Epic Games, Itch.io etc.
  6. Good written English and decent spoken English. Use of AI tools is fine, encouraged even, to ensure marketing accuracy. However, being able to have a conversation about marketing strategy with your teammates in English is necessary.
  7. Light promoted content work: you'll need to be familiar with Meta ads, TikTok ads, etc. enough to propose simple campaigns meant to grow engaged followers who are specifically interested in classic RPG computer games.


Job Requirements

To be a good candidate you should be:

  1. Fast and familiar with social media content creation, able to ensure high-quality, correctly formatted imagery and video on all mentioned channels.
  2. Skilled at image and video editing, enough to quickly repurpose game assets into compelling social content.
  3. Great at working independently and on schedule, such that the Producer rarely needs to check in: your deliverables are reliably on-time.
  4. Proactive: you are expected to propose new ideas and improvements to our process and strategy often. This should sound like fun rather than a chore.
  5. Comfortable with and appreciative of both giving and receiving constructive criticism. As a team we are constantly curious about improving.
  6. Accepting, supportive, and kind. We have a diverse team, and we find value in that.
  7. Enthusiastic about games, or at least the components that make up games: art, music, storytelling.
