Project-Based Video Editor (DaVinci Resolve + AI Workflow) for Event & Brand Content

Full Job Description

Seven Roots is a Colorado-based live broadcast, hybrid event, and video production company. Since 2011 we have produced conferences, keynotes, livestreams, and brand content for nonprofits, foundations, B-Corps, and purpose-driven organizations.

We are looking for a project-based remote video editor who lives in DaVinci Resolve and uses modern AI tools to work faster without cutting corners on quality. You will edit event recap videos, session recordings from multi-track conferences, speaker highlight reels, social cuts, and client brand content, working from raw multi-camera and livestream footage we deliver via cloud storage.

Note on software: DaVinci Resolve is our preferred platform, but strong Adobe Premiere Pro editors are welcome to apply. If you come from Premiere, tell us how comfortable you are moving to Resolve (or learning it) and which AI tools you use in your current workflow.

Our post-production pipeline is built around Resolve: Edit and Cut pages for assembly, Fairlight for audio cleanup, the Color page for grading and camera matching, and Fusion for titles and lower thirds. We want someone who already leans on Resolve's AI features (transcription and text-based editing, Voice Isolation, Magic Mask, Smart Reframe, scene cut detection, IntelliTrack, and similar) and who is curious about new AI tools for transcription, captioning, rough-cut assembly, and clip selection. We care about results: clean edits delivered on time, with AI used to remove grunt work, not to replace editorial judgment.

You will work directly with our founder and post-production lead, receive a clear brief for every project (reference examples, brand guidelines, timeline), and get consolidated feedback in rounds. Work comes in bursts around our event calendar. We want a long-term working relationship with steady project flow, not a one-off gig. This is a remote, deliverables-based role; you set your own hours as long as deadlines are met.

Job Responsibilities

Core responsibilities:

• Edit event recap videos (2–5 min) and full session recordings in DaVinci Resolve from raw multi-camera and livestream footage
• Cut speaker highlight reels and short-form vertical clips for LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube (using Smart Reframe and transcript-based selects where it helps)
• Use Resolve's AI transcription and text-based editing to build rough cuts and pull soundbites quickly
• Sync multi-camera footage, clean and level audio in Fairlight (Voice Isolation, noise reduction, dialogue leveling)
• Color correct and match footage across cameras and lighting conditions on the Color page
• Build lower thirds, titles, logos, and simple motion graphics in Fusion (or After Effects) following client brand guidelines
• Generate and clean up captions/subtitles for accessibility and social delivery
• Keep projects, media, and Resolve databases organized with clear folder and naming conventions; archive completed projects
• Deliver a first cut on schedule, then apply consolidated feedback in one or two revision rounds
• Export final deliverables in the correct specs (resolution, codec, captions) for each platform
• Communicate progress, questions, and blockers proactively on Google Chat (our primary channel) and email; share what new AI tools or techniques are speeding up your work

Job Requirements

What we need:

• 3+ years of professional video editing experience, ideally with event, conference, corporate, or documentary content
• Expert in DaVinci Resolve (Studio preferred) across the Edit/Cut, Color, and Fairlight pages; working knowledge of Fusion. Adobe Premiere Pro experts are also acceptable, though Resolve is preferred
• Hands-on with Resolve's AI features: transcription and text-based editing, Voice Isolation, Magic Mask, Smart Reframe, scene cut detection, IntelliTrack, or similar
• Actively using AI tools in your day-to-day workflow (transcription, captioning, rough-cut assembly, clip selection, audio cleanup, or upscaling) and able to explain where they help and where they don't
• Solid understanding of multi-camera editing, audio cleanup, and color correction
• A portfolio or reel showing your work, ideally with at least one project cut in Resolve (required to apply)
• Advanced English: you can read a brief, understand speakers in the footage, and write clear updates
• Reliable computer capable of editing 4K in Resolve (dedicated GPU strongly preferred) and a fast, stable internet connection for large file transfers
• Must be available on Google Chat and reply within 24–36 hours on business days. This is non-negotiable: we run all project communication through Google Chat, and silence during an active project is the fastest way to lose the engagement
• Organized, deadline-driven, and communicative; you flag problems early rather than going quiet
• Available for roughly 10–20 hours per week, with flexibility during busy event weeks
• Nice to have: After Effects, Frame.io review workflows, Blackmagic Resolve certification, experience with nonprofit or mission-driven clients
