Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant with e-Commerce and Retail experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in month-end close procedures, payment reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and strong experience with tax compliance and financial analysis. This role will require close collaboration with the finance team and management to ensure accurate financial reporting, adherence to budgets, and compliance with regulatory tax laws.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Month-End Close & Financial Statements: Manage and oversee the month-end close process, including the preparation of financial statements and reconciliations.
• Reconciliations: Handle accounts payable (AP) management, bank and credit card reconciliations, and payment reconciliations.
• AP & Vendor Payments: Schedule vendor payments for the Controller and Buying Manager to approve.
• Payroll & Accruals: Record payroll journal entries and accruals.
• Budgeting & Variance Analysis: Assist in budget preparation and analysis, performing variance analysis to ensure adherence to the budget.
• Retail & e-Commerce Accounting: Manage consignment and gift card accounting, particularly in retail and e-commerce settings.
• System Management: Develop and maintain financial databases, QuickBooks, and Shopify, ensuring accurate record-keeping and system efficiency.
• Financial Analysis & Strategic Insights: Provide strategic financial recommendations based on analysis of business operations, costs, revenues, and trends, projecting future financial performance.
• Collaboration: Work with management teams to deliver data-driven financial insights and liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• CPA designation.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and Shopify.
• Experience with month-end close, payment reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Proficient in handling GST/HST and Income Tax payments.
• Experience with budget preparation, variance analysis, and strategic financial planning.
• Retail and e-commerce accounting experience, including consignment and gift card accounting, is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in retail or e-commerce industries.
• Familiarity with consignment and gift card accounting.
