Senior WooCommerce Infrastructure & Shopify Migration Developer

Full Job Description

We run an established, high-volume direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand operating on WordPress/WooCommerce with a significant daily Google Ads and Shopping spend. We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical E-Commerce Developer in Latin America to stabilize our current infrastructure and lead a planned migration to Shopify. In the short term, you will diagnose and resolve server-level crawling bottlenecks (Googlebot 4xx/rate-limiting errors in Google Merchant Center), optimize Cloudflare and database performance, and ensure conversion tracking remains intact. In the second phase, you will build and launch a parallel Shopify store featuring a decoupled custom product configurator (Kickflip API) with complete 301 URL redirect mapping and zero downtime.

Job Responsibilities

• Audit and optimize WooCommerce core performance, MySQL queries, and server caching (Cloudflare CDN, WAF rules, Redis/Memcached).
• Debug and fix Google Merchant Center product variation crawl issues (resolving 4xx client errors and rate-limiting blocks under heavy Googlebot traffic).
• Verify and maintain Google Ads conversion tracking tags and GA4 event delivery.
• Set up external real-time uptime and synthetic checkout monitoring (Better Stack) with automated alerting.
• Architect and develop a parallel staging store on Shopify without disrupting the live WooCommerce operation.
• Integrate cloud visual customizer APIs (Kickflip) to map dynamic pricing and custom configuration line-items into Shopify checkout.
• Execute comprehensive database data migration and 301 redirect mapping to preserve historical SEO equity and Google Shopping URLs during final cutover.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of advanced WooCommerce and PHP development experience (custom theme/plugin architecture, database indexing, and REST APIs).
• Proven hands-on experience building, launching, and migrating stores to Shopify.
• Strong server and infrastructure expertise: Cloudflare WAF/rate-limiting rules, HTTP response codes, and crawler behavior (Googlebot).
• Solid understanding of Google Merchant Center product feeds and Google Tag Manager / ad conversion tracking.
• Experience integrating decoupled third-party SaaS apps or visualizers (Kickflip, Zakeke, etc.) via API/Liquid.
• Fluent/Advanced English communication skills (written and spoken) with daily availability during US Central business hours.
