Full Job Description

About the Role: BuzzEngine is seeking a Website Developer / Builder / Designer to work with us as an independent contractor. This role supports client-facing projects and internal initiatives, primarily focused on WordPress websites. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands both development and design. You should feel comfortable building sites from start to finish, customizing themes, applying brand systems, and ensuring a polished, user-friendly final product. You’ll collaborate closely with BuzzEngine’s branding, design, and project management teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, customize, and maintain WordPress websites for BuzzEngine clients. 
• Select and adapt WordPress themes based on brand and project needs
• Apply brand guidelines consistently across all web pages
• Implement basic animations and interactive elements. 
• Manage both front-end and back-end WordPress functionality. 
• Optimize sites for performance, responsiveness, and accessibility. 
• Troubleshoot technical issues, updates, and plugin conflicts. 
• Collaborate with designers, marketers, and project managers. 
• Ensure websites are SEO-friendly and user-focused. 

Required Skills & Experience: 

• Strong experience working with WordPress, solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, back-end WordPress experience, including themes and plugins, strong design sensibility, and attention to visual detail. 
• Ability to translate brand guidelines into clean, functional websites. 
• Experience working with basic animations and transitions. 
• Comfortable working independently as a contractor. 
• Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines

Nice to Have

• Experience with page builders such as Elementor or Gutenberg. Familiarity with hosting environments and site migrations. 
• Basic understanding of UX best practices. 
• Experience working with nonprofits, education, arts, or creative organizations. 
• Familiarity with working with agencies or multiple clients at once

Language & Location

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
